Colin Tizzard says “plans are temporarily on hold” with exciting The Big Breakaway following a minor setback

The expensive purchase who is as short as 12/1 for the Ballymore Novices Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival has created a big impression in two starts under Rules to date

Trainer Colin Tizzard was targeting Trials Day on Saturday with THE BIG BREAKAWAY but sadly a knocked joint has put plans temporarily on hold.

He was set for a step up in class with the likes of Sporting John, King Roland and Protektorat all holding entries.

Assistant Joe Tizzard said:

“We’ve got no plan at the moment as he just banged a joint and it went a bit big. We haven’t got as far as picking another race out for him yet, we’ll just let this settle down for a day or two. Unfortunately it meant we couldn’t enter him this weekend, so we’ll just have to have a think. We’ll play it by ear and see what’s about before Cheltenham.”

The striking chestnut has been mightily impressive in two runs over hurdles to date. Sauntering through the race before pulling readily clear at Chepstow and then following up at Newbury. He has a lovely effortless way of moving through his races and with further improvement on the cards looks a horse plenty will have on their radar moving forward. Whether the Cheltenham Festival comes too soon in his career is another question but the 12/1 on offer for the Ballymore remains an appealing proposition.
