Race 1 Tampa Bay Downs 5.50 Tench (1/1)
Catches the eye dropping down in grade and form from five starts looks very strong in the context of this race so rates a first-class bet to make the breakthrough; only beaten narrowly last time and a similar effort should suffice.
The US NAP landed a gamble yesterday so we’ll be looking for back-to-back winners on Wednesday night and TENCH looks the most likely winner in the opener at Tampa. He has run some big races in defeat and this is undoubtedly the easiest race he would have contested. It won’t surprise me if he pushes forward here as there isn’t much pace on and given he is the best horse in the race Scott Spieth might want to keep it simple. Accessible looks capable of better and should provide the most resistance.

Improving with every race prior to rearing in the stalls and losing all chance at the start last time; eased in grade now so this represents a very good opportunity for him to make the breakthrough granted he gets away on terms this time.
We head to Gulfstream for our second best bet Stateside on Wednesday and I’m keeping the faith with CHILL HAZE at Gulfstream. He is a colt on the improve but he reared as the gates opened last time and lost so much ground. He never had a chance after so in my eyes is forgivable. He is eased in grade now and if he breaks on terms, never had an issue before, then he will be a very short price in running I think. Bridologist shaped with promise on debut last time and comes into calculations.
