Upset the market principals to win the Grade 3 City Of Cape Town Politician Stakes before running creditably when second off fav in the Grade 1 Cape Derby; drop in trip will suit now and strong claims of returning to winning ways.
The most logical winner is SILVER HOST as he is proven at this level and I think the step back in trip will help him. He was a bit short for room up the inside last time and couldn’t really get an out with the momentum coming down the outside. He just kept on but was never threatening. This is obviously much easier and I fancy his nose-banded head to get back in front! Super Silvano was third in that race so is respected and is a danger but I fancy the selection to reverse the form especially back down over this distance.

Kenilworth 3.35 Savea (4/1)
Good looking chestnut who built on a promising second over C&D to get back to winning ways in good style in February; second when last seen at Durbanville, hanging left; needs to channel his energy in the right direction but will win if he does.
I’m siding with SAVEA here. He didn’t look the most straightforward when run down last time but the horse that came through and beat him was completing a hat-trick of wins so the form looks really solid in the context of this race and should stand up. I think he’s the most likely winner in this line-up and we’re getting a decent price about him at 4/1. We’ll need a bit of luck in-running but that’s usually always the case. Hopefully he gets carried into it before producing a winning challenge. Mr Cobbs is the danger back down in grade.
