Vaal 1.45 The Gypsy King (11/8)
Pomodoro colt who ran a race full of promise when third to Able Surprise at Turffontein last month, inexperience probably costing him; can improve plenty from that initial effort and looks the one to beat.
Despite looking rough around the edges THE GYPSY KING still showed plenty of ability on debut finishing third at Turffontein. Given he’ll be more streetwise now he looks to have obvious claims of making the breakthrough here. It won’t take a great deal of winning and he looks the most obvious winner. That’s very much reflected in his price but even at 11/8 he looks a good play. Back To Black has more experience and ran well at a huge price last time so has to be considered. I’ll be surprised if the fav doesn’t improve past him though.

Vaal 3.45 Pacific Winter (2/1)
Smart colt who made the breakthrough impressively over C&D last time back from 198 days off the track; sure to improve physically and looks to have an obvious chance of making it two wins from four starts.
In hindsight it didn’t look the strongest of maidens that PACIFIC WINTER won last time but even still he was very impressive and has the scope to really kick on now. He’ll need more here but is improving and gets the vote. 2/1 looks generous! Precious Stone is a live danger for Sean Tarry. Not beaten far last time and best form puts him right in the mix. At a bigger price Touch Of Fate is also consistent and chased home Captain Hindsight (tipped later in the card) so is entitled to be thereabouts again.
