Goodwood 1.10 Mirabeau En Provence Handicap (Class 3) 5f
A fiercely competitive handicap sprint to kick off Day 3 of Glorious Goodwood and I have this between two horses. Electric Ladyland and CASPIAN QUEEN and I’ve sided with the latter. She really caught the eye thundering home when beaten just a short head over C&D last month and while she failed to back that up at Newmarket back up to 6f this test clearly suits her well and she makes plenty of appeal to bounce back. She is 3lb higher but if she gets the gaps I can see this being run to suit and her finishing better than anything.
Electric Ladyland beat her over C&D but has also won at Windsor since and as a result is now 9lb higher so may have her work cutout to confirm those placings. I can see her running well though and she looks the main danger. Bal Mal has done brilliantly for connections but needs more up in grade and is opposable.

Goodwood 1.45 Unibet You’re On Handicap (Class 2) 1m2f
1 or 2 of these could soon be running for black type and MAGNETISED with an opening mark of just 87 looks a decent prospect. He was just chinned at Thirsk on return to the track and may have needed the run. That said the front two were 7 lengths clear that day and the 3rd place Confide franked the form going close at York on Sunday. He looks like he could be a fair bit better than his current mark and I would be disappointed if he wasn’t fighting out the finish.
As with all handicaps at Glorious Goodwood you have to pay special attention to Mark Johnson horses and Zabeel Champion who is on a hat-trick rates the main danger, however I feel our selection can beat him after he was hit by an 8lb penalty for his last win.

Goodwood 2.45 John Pearce Racing Gordon Stakes (Group 3) 1m4f
Just the 6 runners set to line-up for the Gordon Stakes and it looks fairly good for a Group 3. ENGLISH KING wasn’t suited like many to how the Derby was run and finished really well. He would have run into a place with a few more yards so lost little in defeat for me. Khalifa Sat should set a fair pace in this and I can see the selection picking him up and winning in the same style as when he brushed aside Berkshire Rocco at Lingfield. He is still a very promising horse going forward and this looks a good race to get him back on track.
Al Aasy is looking to give his owner another big race win this week and whilst he was impressive visually at Newmarket last time he has to carry a penalty as a result which will make life more difficult. Mogul finished a place behind the selection in the Derby and just isn’t living up to his reputation.

Goodwood 3.15 Qatar Nassau Stakes (Fillies’ Group 1) 1m4f
Deirdre swooped late to spring a 20/1 upset in this last year. She is a much shorter price this time around and was well held in the Coral-Eclipse last time. She will need to bounce back to threaten here so while she is respected I think there’s good reason to take her on. FANCY BLUE is the one that catches my eye. She landed Donnacha O’Brien Classic glory in the French Oaks at Chantilly last time beating Coronation Stakes winner Alpine Star and Irish Guineas winner Peaceful. That looks the best piece of form on offer and if she builds on that, which she promises to do so, she will take a lot of beating.
Nazeef has won 6 in a row now since her debut and put in a career best winning the Falmouth from Billesdon Brook at Newmarket last time. She promises to stay this trip so is feared most. Surely needs more to overhaul the favourite though?

Fancy Blue 5/2 NOTEBOOK
Goodwood 3.45 Gusbourne Nursery (Class 2) 7f
Horses that have recorded a win before have taken 4 of the last 4 renewals of this race and we rate WILLIAM BLIGH highly after Master Of The Seas franked his Newmarket form winning a Group 2 and he will be tough to beat off a mark of 87. His win was impressive, seeing them all off by just under 4 lengths. He has the best form in the race and if running to that he should go really well.
Samara Bay is another with a win last time out and could run a big race at a double figure price. Calcutta Cup is the closest in the betting but his opening mark of 77 looks a bit harsh on what he’s achieved so far. I expect him to improve but he will need to a fair bit to even trouble the selection.

William Blight 9/4 NEXT BEST
Goodwood 4.20 British European Breeders Fund EBF Maiden Fillies’ Stakes (Class 2) 7f
The penny only dropped late for TEODOLINA at Newmarket 3 weeks ago but when it did she really rattled home and there was tons of promise to take from her third place finish. Miss Jingles could only finish sixth on that occasion and she has gone on to win her next two including here yesterday so the form has a solid look to it. The selection should know her job now and I think she’ll prove a cut above these. Dreams Unwind was beaten 5 lengths by a useful prospect in Pomelo on debut at Newbury and looks the main danger. She will make the running though and that may just give the selection a target to aim at. Could set it up for us!
Great Vibes was a couple of places behind the selection on debut at Newmarket so has a bit to find but will improve and is worth noting. Could easily outrun her price-tag and may be worth backing to hit the frame.

Goodwood 4.55 Tatler Nursery (Class 2) 5f
Many people would have put WINTER POWER in their notebooks after cruising clear at Redcar on Monday and only gets a 6lb penalty due to her running again so quickly and surely she is ahead of her mark on that performance? It is a much better race but she likely has more to come on turf which seemed to see her to best effect and will take all the beating.
Different Face has the best form in the race with her debut form being franked in much better races and will be the main danger. Hard to recommend much else as this looks to lack strength in depth but I suppose Salsoul could outrun her odds as she ran well at Ripon 6 days ago behind a horse that made all.
