Doncaster 1.10 British EBF Premier Fillies’ Handicap (Class 2) 1m4f

In what has been a great season for Al Maktoum horses ALMAREEKH looks another very good horse they have in their ranks. Her win at Sandown was so impressive scooting clear by 5 lengths to make it 3 wins in-a-row. She looks like a pattern company filly in the making and should go very close off of a mark of 89.

The main danger could be her stablemate Sorrel who has improved since going up in trip and could have more to come. Backed off the boards lately in a race that rather fell apart but got the job done.

Doncaster 1.40 bet365 Mallard Handicap (Class 2) 1m61/2f

A small but competitive handicap with it hard to rule any of these out completely. I am going to take a chance on VOLCANIC SKY showing his class. He is back down in trip and I feel that will suit with the pace not looking that strong. He has been running consistently well and this looks a good opportunity to get his head in-front.

The main danger could be Calculation who improved for his comeback run and could take another step forward. Alfaatik is the short priced favourite for John Gosden and while he won well at York last time this looks tougher so not for me at cramped odds.

It pays 10/3 on Friday and has already been popular in the market. Opened at 4/1 (best price) so has been trimmed in by a few firms. Only needs to build on that last run to go close so this is not to be missed!

Doncaster 2.40 Bombardier Flying Childers Stakes (Group 2) 5f

A decent looking renewal of the Flying Childers and the one I can’t get away from is SACRED for William Haggas. This filly by Exceed And Excel made a very promising start beating Sardinia Sunset on debut at Newmarket. She then bumped into Campanelle in the Queen Mary and again improved to chase home Miss Amulet in the Lowther, beaten just a length and nicely clear from the rest. She is still improving and the return to 5f will suit so I fancy her to have too much for these.

The Lir Jet stayed on strongly to reel in Golden Pal in the Norfolk and hasn’t done much wrong in defeat since. Denied just a short head in France and then second to the exciting Lucky Vega at the Curragh latest. Should chase the selection home. Steel Bull looked promising winning his first two starts but has a bit to prove after finishing only seventh last time behind a couple of these.

Doncaster 3.15 bet365 Doncaster Cup Stakes (Group 2) (Class 1) 2m2f

With the likes of Stradivarius opting to run in France instead of going for back-to-back wins this looks a lot more competitive than recent years. That said there are still some classy sorts in this including RED VERDON. He ran well in France last time when trying to bring up his hat-trick under a penalty and this looks a slightly easier race to make his mark on. He does have a penalty to carry again but this distance may suit him more than the 4-runner race in France.

Spanish Mission looks a fair favourite on form and is the likely danger but I am happy with the selection at 3 times the price at the time of writing. Revolver is worth a mention off the back of a 6 winning streak but he’ll need to pull out more if he is to keep that going and is too short in the market for me against some proven performers.

Red Verdon 7/1 each way

Doncaster 3.45 bet365 Flying Scotsman Stakes (Listed) (Class 1) 7f

Dubawi colt ONE RULER looks the one to side with in ITV Racing’s finale on Friday. He was a big eye-catcher on debut chasing home Etonian at Sandown. While he was turned over at 6/4 and it was initially disappointing that horse has since won the Solario and could be anything. He confirmed the promise of that run to make all and win well at Sandown last month. The third Latest Generation has given the form a handsome boost since so with further improvement to come he should make it two wins from three starts here. That last effort was visually pretty impressive and the clock certainly backed it up.

Spycatcher stumbled out the gate and gave them all a head-start on debut before running on well for fourth. That was an encouraging effort so it was no surprise to see him improve on that when going down narrowly in the Acomb. He is down in class so has to be respected with the promise of more to come. Should give the favourite most to think about.

Doncaster 4.15 Gary Reid Memorial Maiden Stakes (Plus 10) (Class 3) 7f

Not much to go on here with just three of the ten rivals having run before. TAWAAREQ makes most appeal of those for Sir Michael Stoute. He could only finish fifth behind One Ruler but that looked a decent maiden and he showed ability under a quiet ride. The form has already worked out well with the third Latest Generation winning here earlier in the week and looking potentially smart. Any improvement would see him go close.

Muay Thai has also had a run and caught the eye finishing third at Ascot last week, chasing home Ballyconneely Bay and the winner Prince Of Abington. Entitled to go close off the back of that and looks the main danger. The Gosden pair look the most interesting newcomers. Cordouan is by Shalaa and was a £105,000 breeze-up purchase. Taravara is by The Gurkha and cost €300,000. If the latter attracts market support I’d be worried as bred to be very smart.
