A quieter night than usual overnight Down Under with racing from Townsville, Kembla Grange and Northam. The Daily Double pays 10/3 PLUS a 10/1 Notebook Double which is not to be missed.

Race 5 Townsville 6.27 V J Day (1/1)
Improving gelding who made all to win the Cairns Plate on penultimate start; only run down late last time; more to offer yet and the low gate coupled with positive tactics should see him back in the winners enclosure here.
The progressive V J DAY is looking to make it 5 career wins at Townsville on Thursday morning. She has a win and two placed efforts over this trip so almost certainly has more to offer. A low gate looks ideal and he will push forward and try and make all under Georgina Bourke. Bullion Wolf has been running well and knows how to win so has to be feared. He will be conceding first run though so it will likely take a big effort to overhaul the favourite which I just can’t see happening. Last Chance looked good at Rockhampton but needs more against the market principals here. Tambo’s Heart and Break My Stride are respected but likely not good enough.

Race 4 Northam 8.45 Classic Magnus (5/4)
Well regarded filly who made it two in a row at Belmont swooping from off the pace last month; won over this trip last time and looks to have plenty going for her again so one to keep firmly on side for now.
We head to Northam for our second best bet overnight Down Under and CLASSIC MAGNUS looks a good bet to land the hat-trick for Lucy Warwick and Lindsey Smith. She is firmly on the upgrade and this looks another glaring opportunity to win another race and make it three in a row! Sauvegarde has been a bit expensive to follow albeit 3 wins from 11 starts so has to be feared as the main danger to the selection. Needs to show more than she did at Ascot last time though. Highway Glory is also improving and may look to push forward from a low gate so could be dangerous. Hard to see anything else proving good enough in here so the favourite could end up going off shorter than her current price.
