Haydock 2.50 Terrichang (1/1)
Dandy Man filly who caught the eye going close on debut at Chester, losing out to a filly with much more experience; improved to finish third in a Listed race at Ripon last month, disputing the lead for a long way; sets a good standard.
The one to beat here is clearly TERRICHANG for Karl Burke. She has run two very promising races and with further gains likely she can open her account at the third time off asking. This is a weak race with only three other fillies in here with experience. Worldly Wise was sent off at 33/1 on debut and showed ability in second. Can improve but needs plenty more to trouble the selection. Most likely to chase her home though. Of the newcomers Cloudy Dawn is probably the most interesting. She is well related so I wouldn’t want to see too much money for her. All in all it looks an obvious opportunity for the favourite and it will be hugely disappointing if she is beaten.

Uttoxeter 1.00 Fusil Raffles (5/4)
Landed a hat-trick over hurdles for this yard including a Grade 1 in Ireland last year; failed to fire in the Champion Hurdle when last seen but still early days and leading chance tackling fences for the first time.
The first big Novice Chase of the season for me as FUSIL RAFFLES and Gumball go head-to-head. The former was very smart over hurdles and should win this if fresh and well on his return. He can be keen so I’d like to see him settle early but if he does he should have too much for the exuberant Gumball. Quick Grabim and Getariver are both pretty useful animals too but they are likely to take each other on up front and set it up for the selection. A strong pace will definitely help him settle. Nicky Henderson will be hoping his 5yo can get off to the perfect start before going onto better things in time. This is a race I’m really looking forward to.
