Carlisle 3.01 The Navigator (10/11)

Better than ever on the Flat this year and transferred that form back in this sphere recently winning well last month before following up under a penalty last week; clearly thriving right now and looks tough to oppose again as he seeks the hat-trick.

The one to beat is clearly THE NAVIGATOR for Dianne Sayer. This likeable 5yo by Mastercraftsman looks to be in great nick and he should have too much for these even under a penalty. He likes to be held up before picking rivals off one by one and the way he led on the bit last time before quickening clear was mightily impressive. A similar scenario should pan out here and he is expected to justify cramped odds again. Calliope has been consistent without ripping up any trees and can go well again without posing a serious threat. Sarasota Star improved on handicap debut when third at Ludlow in February and shaped well at Stratford in testing ground. Should hit the frame again.

Curragh 1.35 Make A Challenge (6/4)

Smart type who has 4 Listed wins this year; always struggling from a poor draw when down the field in L’Abbaye at Longchamp earlier this month; likely still in good form and looks to have been found a good opportunity to bounce back.

Given MAKE A CHALLENGE has run in Group 1 company the last twice he should find this much easier and he’s expected to take plenty of beating under James Doyle. He was backed into co-favouritism in the Abbaye in France last time but was always up against it with that draw and wasn’t disgraced. He will find this much easier and is taken to get back on track and regain the winning groove. Romantic Proposal may be the one to chase him home. This Raven’s Pass filly won over C&D in July and ran a big race in defeat when fourth to Ventura Rebel in Renaissance Stakes over C&D 19 days ago. A repeat of that would see her in the mix for a place.
