Newcastle 4.45 Victory Heights (5/6)
Useful colt who struck over C&D on debut; ran a big race on return when beaten just a short head at Redcar and improved on that to chase home Significantly over 6f here last time; sets the standard and should be hard to beat.
This represents a great opportunity for VICTORY HEIGHTS to get his head back in front. He hasn’t won since making a winning start on debut over C&D in June but he has run some big race in defeat and his form stacks up. He was beaten just a length last time and dropping back to the minimum in calmer waters he is expected to take all the beating under P J McDonald. Miss Nay Never is the obvious danger as while she hasn’t won she has put up some good figures in defeat and has only gone down narrowly the last twice. She does have a bit to find with the favourite though and for me may always be playing second fiddle. Musaytir is the most interesting of the two newcomers but this is tough.

Fakenham 1.03 Gleno (1/1)
Did well over hurdles and while he failed to get his head in front over fences last year he did run some good races in defeat so no surprise to see him make the most of a good opportunity at Lingfield on return; should build on that now.
I’ve always thought GLENO is a pretty decent yardstick so it was good to see him get off the mark in this sphere off the back of a wind op at Lingfield last month. He remains open to improvement and looks well placed to follow up for Gary Moore. I’m expecting him to push forward again as I think that’s the best way to keep him interested. In the betting Rumble B is the main danger. This son of Presenting had a mixed record over hurdles but is improving over fences and chased home the selection last time. He is 3lb better off now so should give him a race. Finalshot needs to improve but would be a player if doing so. Shouldn’t be too far away.
