Kempton 1.20 Ladbrokes Wayward Lad Novices’ Chase (Grade 2) Class 1 2m

I know we saw upsets at Kempton on Boxing Day with Epatante getting beat and I would be just as surprised if SHISHKIN got beaten. He is one of the best horses in training and is 8 pounds clear of these on ratings. He has won his last 4 which included the Supreme at Cheltenham in March. He made an impressive chase debut at the track in November winning by 23 lengths in a race he was expected to win comfortably. I can’t see him beat in this field and he should win by a fair margin again.

Gumball looks to be the the one to chase him home despite his fall last time he still has plenty of potential.

Kempton 1.55 Play Ladbrokes 5-A-Side On Football Mares’ Handicap Hurdle (Class 2) 31/2f

Not the best race in the world and I only have a small interest in it and that is with EMMPRESSIVE LADY. She has really stepped forward since hurdling and with only 3 runs under her belt a mark of 120 looks like it could be pretty good. She showed signs of inexperience when winning at Sandown but both of her wins she has still won nicely. She will improve again and if getting the trip she will go very close at a good price.

Plenty of these could be better than there mark but the danger for me would be Bannixtown Glory who won a nice race last time but is giving a lot of weight away so will find this a tougher ask.

Kempton 2.30 Ladbrokes Desert Orchid Chase (Grade 2) (Class 1) 2m

With the ground coming up good to soft it looks like Nicky Henderson’s decision to not run ALTIOR in the Tingle Creek on bad ground has paid off. This may not be a Grade 1 but he has the ideal race to open his account for the season. Even giving weight away he is still clear on ratings and has much superior form to this and I would be surprised if he is beaten.

I would usually be putting Sceau Royal up as the danger or one to follow him home but he had a hard race at Cheltenham and Rouge Vif looks more likely to be fighting it out at the business end.

Kempton 3.05 Ladbrokes Committed To Safer Gambling Handicap Chase (Class 2) 3m

Wide open handicap and I think the much improved ROYALE PAGAILLE could step up again for Venetia Williams. They seemed to have found the key to him last time when winning a novice chase at Haydock and even though he made the odd mistake he won well. He is still unexposed and could be a a bit better than this mark of 140 but will need that improvement in this race.

There are a host of dangers but Darlac, Soupy Soups and Cap Du Nord look like the main protagonists. Hard to pinpoint one exactly.
