NAP – Best selection of the evening
THE NAP (BEST BET) RUNS AT WOLVERHAMPTON ON THURSDAY EVENING!
Wolverhampton 5.30 Castlebar (5/6)
Expensive yearling who took his time to come to hand but confirmed the promise of Lingfield second when opening his account at Newcastle last month; form franked with 3rd and 6th both winning impressively since; more to come now handicapping.
The NAP disappointed last night so we’re looking to get back on track on Thursday. We head to Wolverhampton where Godolphin gelding CASTLEBAR should prove hard to beat now handicapping off a mark of 84. He ran on strongly to win well at Newcastle last month and is open to any amount of improvement. The third Kondo Isami has won impressively since and even the sixth Bandinelli won his next start so the form is really stacking up. He is the obvious pace angle in the race so a soft lead could be on the cards too. Book Of Secrets recorded a career best to win at Lingfield last time and that form has been boosted but this is tougher off a 6lb higher mark against an unexposed horse.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS AT SOUTHWELL ON THURSDAY AFTERNOON!
Southwell 12.45 Lord Of The Alps (6/4)
Good looking sort who was back to his best dominating the field to win convincingly at Wolverhampton recently; runs off the same mark here and with similar tactics likely to be adopted he could prove hard to catch if taking to fibresand.
I’ve got to be with the improving LORD OF THE ALPS here for Mark Johnston. He really impressed me at Wolverhampton beating a solid enough yardstick in Fair Star and unpenalised for that success he should have every chance of making it three wins from his last four starts. He has to prove himself on the surface as he’s never tried it before but I see no reason why he won’t take to it and if he gets into a rhythm off the front he might slip the field. Course regular Grimsthorpe Castle appears to be the danger but I do wonder if he is in the handicappers grip at present. Needs to do better than what we saw when third to Straight Ash here last month. Cold Harbour is also worthy of plenty of respect.
