Musselburgh 3.25 Third Time Lucki (1/1)
Classy sort who has looked progressive over hurdles improving to make it 3 wins from 4 starts over timber at Kempton on Boxing Day; sets a clear standard on that and with the promise of more to come should be hard to beat.
The NAP landed yesterday as Honeysuckle ran them ragged in the Irish Champion Hurdle. She remains unbeaten and has surely earned a crack at the big one next month now? We head to Musselburgh on Sunday in search of another winner and THIRD TIME LUCKI can strike again for Dan and Harry Skelton. This horse has done nothing but improve since finishing fourth in the Champion Bumper. He won his first two starts impressively over hurdles before getting too far back at Cheltenham. He was firmly back on track at Kempton slamming a decent yardstick in Flic Ou Voyou by 9 lengths and with more to come he can go in again. Bareback Jack looks the obvious danger against.

Leopardstown 1.40 Quilixios (6/4)
Exciting prospect who defied a double penalty impressively to win a juvenile hurdle at Down Royal in October, making all the running before leaving them standing; hard to oppose with further improvement to come.
We haven’t seen QUILIXIOS since October but he looked a really promising horse on that occasion. He made all the running jumping well up front before quickening away. He was never in any sort of danger (as his odds suggested) and he quite simply he ‘could still be anything’. This is obviously much tougher but given the strength Gordon Elliott has in this division it’s interesting he relies on just the one runner. If he steps forward on what we’ve seen, which you’d expect him to, then he should have too many gears for these. It won’t be easy with Youmdor looking promising himself. He was set to win at Fairyhouse before coming down at the last and looks the danger with a hood on now.
