NAP – Best selection of the evening
THE NAP (BEST BET) NOW RUNS AT NEWCASTLE IN A JUMPERS BUMPER FLAT RACE!
Newcastle 12.55 Quest For Life (7/4)
Useful type and looked a horse on good terms with himself hacking up on return from 18 months off the track at Musselburgh last month; hard to oppose on that evidence in a race that might not take much winning.
A 555-day absence didn’t stop QUEST FOR LIFE winning easily over hurdles at Musselburgh last month and given he is entitled to come on for that run if he handles the switch to this discipline he will be tough to beat here. It’s not an overly strong race and I can see him racing prominently and getting first crack at these. Cathal’s Star was pulled up at Bangor but his previous Sedgefield win reads well so if he bounces back he’ll be the main danger to the selection. That’s very much being reflected in the market. Derrick D’Anjou was fourth in a C&D jumpers bumper behind Armattiekan at Newcastle last month and is another one who shouldn’t be entirely ruled out.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) WON YESTERDAY AND RUNS AT WOLVERHAMPTON!
Wolverhampton 7.30 Pallas Dancer (7/2)
War Command gelding who is chasing a hat-trick after showing a good attitude to score over C&D in December before following up in gutsy fashion at Newcastle last month; only just does enough so 3lb rise very fair.
I fancy PALLAS DANCER to be well backed here. 7/2 at the time of writing looks too big as he has looked a different horse since the cheekpieces have gone on (2-2). He is proven over this C&D and given his unexposed profile there could be lots more to come yet. He is a strong travelling sort and there isn’t much pace on so it wouldn’t surprise me if they went forward. An easy lead may well be on the cards. I’d put forward Pilot Wings as the main danger. We were with him when he won at Chelmsford latest. He’s a tricky sort but if he does manage to back that up he should give the selection a race. Quoteline Direct hasn’t won since 2018 and is on a 25-run losing sequence so is hard to recommend.
Daily Double
The Daily Double consists of both the NAP and NB and is a great way of covering our two best bets of the day to maximise profit. They run at Newcastle and Wolverhampton on Monday afternoon.
