Lingfield 2.45 Tone The Barone (11/8)
Showed a great attitude to get up and win by a nose on return at Chelmsford in January; too keen next start and then saw too much daylight last time; Marco Ghiani takes 3lb off and should win this if they get tactics right.
I know both Ornate and Lihou finished ahead of TONE THE BARONE last time but I don’t think things panned out for him and he just saw too much daylight under Ryan Moore and couldn’t come with his customary turn of foot. With Marco Ghiani back on taking off a valuable 3lb I’m hoping they revert to more hold up tactics and look to deliver him late. If they do I think he’s better than these and he should win. The money has certainly come for him overnight so he looks like he’ll go off a red-hot fav. Ornate should blaze a trail and I think he’ll set it up for the selection. Lihou would be the main danger but Nigel Nott shouldn’t be entirely ruled out either with some solid form to his name this campaign.

Chased home a near 150-rated horse in Grand Roi when last seen over hurdles over track and trip in January; down the field on the Flat since and not disgraced in a jumpers bumper last month; looks the one to beat.
Yauthym is quite interesting as she was running a big race when coming down at the last at Southwell. The winner Starvoski who looked to be getting on top at the time was running huge at Sandown before making a shuddering error at the last so the form is pretty solid. She could run well if none the worse from that fall but in TOUCHTHESOUL she meets a useful horse. He still has lots of potential over hurdles and this looks a good opportunity for him to open his account. If he runs to the sort of level that saw him second to Grand Roi then quite simply he should have too much for them. Supreme Yeats shaped well in a bumper last time and could improve now tackling hurdles.
