THE NAP (BEST BET) RUNS OVER JUMPS AT CARLISLE ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON!
Carlisle 2.48 Wetlands (1/1)
Needed the experience behind two smart horses at Ayr on hurdles debut and then chased home an exciting prospect here in November; won both starts since and still learning; should keep improving and one to keep firmly on side.
Despite making a bit of a mess of 2 out at Newcastle WETLANDS had more than enough in reserve to pull out at the finish and win well. He is a horse going places fast and looks capable of better yet. He bumped into the exciting Gaston Phebus when second over C&D last year and even his form before that when third to Do Your Job and Cadzand reads really well. Confirmation Bias was in behind and he has got off the mark since. Karl Philippe is favourite but he was pulled up in the EBF Final when last seen and I know his form reads well before that but I think the selection has the greater potential going forward and he’s readily preferred here. Large Action can do better but needs more time.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS OVER JUMPS AT HAYDOCK ON SATURDAY!
Haydock 1.30 Five Star Getaway (11/8)
Impressed to open his account under Rules over fences at Wincanton last month and quickly improved again to win very much head in chest at Sandown last time; progressive sort who even under a 15lb rise should take the beating.
I loved the way FIVE STAR GETAWAY won at Sandown last time and with further improvement to come he is a confident selection to complete the hat-trick here. He looked a happy horse last time, jumping and travelling throughout before taking it up 2 out and galloping to the line. The second Golden Whisky is certainly no mug but he was never given a chance in second and I think that’s strong form. The hike in the weights is to be expected and I think he’ll take it in his stride. Barton Knoll is certainly talented albeit not entirely straightforward and is probably the one to chase him home. Admiral Barratry has improved since going chasing and an early blunder cost him latest. Better than that.
