NAP – Best selection of the evening
THE NAP (BEST BET) WON AGAIN YESTERDAY AND IS NOW ON A HAT-TRICK ON SUNDAY!
Chester 3.10 Dakota Gold (11/10)
Top-class sprinter who rounded off last campaign with 3 wins in a row including a Group 3 at York; encouraging run on return when fifth to Winter Power; stall 1 here and should take plenty of catching around this tight track.
With the rail draw this looks all about DAKOTA GOLD for Michael Dods. The team will be in good heart after their Stewards’ Cup victory with Commanche Falls at Glorious Goodwood yesterday. This horse has been somewhat of a stablestar in recent years and he was better than ever last season winning a Group 3 at York in October. This tight track should suit his dominant style and from stall 1 he is going to take all the beating. He was only beaten 3 and a half lengths on return at York behind Winter Power and should be spot on for this now. Judicial won this last year so looks the obvious danger but he’ll need to better those last two efforts. Mighty Gurkha is also worth noting and could run well.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS OVER JUMPS AT MARKET RASEN ON SUNDAY!
Market Rasen 3.00 Chives (15/8)
Likeable type who showed a good attitude to make a winning handicap debut at Bangor in May, blundering the last before holding on narrowly; second past post but awarded race latest; 4lb rise fair and open to further improvement.
With further improvement on the cards CHIVES can make it a perfect 3-3 in handicaps at Market Rasen on Sunday afternoon. I know he’s quite lucky to have won his last two having made a bad error at the final flight at Bangor and then being awarded the race at Stratford after the winner Calum Gilhooley weighed in light having lost his weight cloth but he remains open to further progress and this looks a good opportunity for him to go in again. You Name Him is second in the betting and he remains a maiden over hurdles so I think that says a lot about the quality of the race. Celtic Tara could take a step forward here and may well emerge as the main danger to the favourite.
