NAP – Best selection of the evening
Ayr 7.30 Impressor (2/1)
Caught the eye when a close second over 6f here last month and improved on that again to win convincingly in soft ground latest, ridden quietly before picking them off; 4lb rise manageable and conditions firmly in favour again.
With Rory a significant non runner here it now looks an obvious chance for IMPRESSOR to follow up. He impressed over 6f here last time and with rain forecast and the drop back to the minimum sure to suit I think he’ll be finishing best of all under Sam James. A 4lb rise shouldn’t be enough to anchor him and in a winnable race he makes most appeal. He can be a step slow into stride but that might not be a bad thing here as Gowanbuster and Grandads Best Girl are likely to go hard to he should have a nice pace to run down which is an ideal scenario as he likes passing horses. Kraken Power is my idea of the main danger as he is coming back down the weights and dropped a further 2lb is dangerous.

Windsor 7.10 Silver Gunn (2/1)
Tanked through the race before powering to the front to win eased down over C&D latest, beating some good horses; raised 8lb but seemed to relish this track and if in the same form will take a lot of beating; worth chancing.
This looks a good race but I have to side with SILVER GUNN after that impressive win over C&D last time. He was quite keen but I loved the way he travelled into it and he made a pretty good yardstick in Sweet Reward look ordinary in second eased down at the finish. He is up 8lb obviously but that is fully warranted. If he is in the same form he should follow up. Lucander is certainly capable and he met trouble when never dangerous at Newmarket on return. If that has blown away the cobwebs he could emerge as the main danger to the favourite. Imperial Sands was a creditable second last time and won’t be far away but needs more from a win perspective. Jewel In My Crown likely best of the rest.
