MY AUSTRALIAN NAP RUNS IN RACE 2 AT WERRIBEE ON SUNDAY MORNING!

Race 2 Werribee 2.20 Abu Simbel (best price 1/1)

Improving mare who ran her best race to date when runner-up at Geelong on reappearance last month; sure to tighten up from that and with the promise of more to come should make the breakthrough now.

This looks a great chance for ABU SIMBEL to open her account. She went close at Geelong and given that was her first run since February it was an eye-catching effort. She will keep improving as she gains experience and it is no surprise to see her clear favourite for this as it is very winnable on paper. Sonofthebeast disappointed at Bendigo but did bounce back at Moe when fourth last time so if building on that again could emerge as the danger as the market is suggesting. Royal Rosie is still unexposed but she still needs to improve on what we’ve seen recently to win a race. Songaa has only had 3 starts but needs to show more as well to get involved here. Might be one for further down the line.

Race 2 Bairnsdale 3.15 Russian Mint (best price 6/4)

Tough sort who brings the best form to the table having got within a length of victory over track and trip last month; should control the race from the rail and will likely be hard to pass in the closing stages here.

Again not the most amazing race but RUSSIAN MINT does look a standout. He went close over C&D last time and won’t need much more than that to open his account here. He has the rail draw so should bounce out and look to burn these all off. I think he wins this unless Miss Magnifico is anything special. She is making her debut here but on breeding hard to see if she will be capable of much and not had a trial either which is concerning. Star Harmony ran quite well when fifth at Bendigo but then blew out last time finishing nearer last than first. Garnet is also making her debut but she trialled a while ago now and finished out of the placings at Cranbourne so hard to see her winning first time out.
