NAP – Best tip overnight

MY AUSTRALIAN NAP WON OVERNIGHT AND RUNS IN RACE 5 AT DARWIN ON FRIDAY!

Race 5 Darwin 7.27 First Crusade (best price 1/1)

Promising type who is 3 from 5 over the trip and 4 from 7 at this track so plenty going for him again; won 2 of his last 3 and seems to be getting better with experience; worth backing to beat this field.

The improving FIRST CRUSADE clearly goes particularly well at this track and should take a lot of stopping on Friday morning. He has won 2 of his last 3 and should be hard to beat once more. Virtuous Miss arrives in winning form too so looks the danger but she is only 2 from 9 at the trip which would have to be worrying. Cudjerie is 3 from her last 4 but this is tougher so she’ll likely need a career best to stop the favourite going in. Global Wonder has only won 5 times and 4 have come over the trip which is encouraging but he didn’t run particularly well last time and needs to better that to be springing an upset here. The rest are hard to recommend as Noble War looked promising but has lost her way.

Race 8 Moonee Valley 10.40 River Noire (best price 11/10)

Unbeaten filly who made a perfect start winning at Moe last month, powering away from them; sure to improve on that initial effort and drawn perfectly so very good chance to go 2-2 here and looks worth chancing.

Hard to look past RIVER NOIRE after that debut win. This is winnable and she looks hard to beat with the promise of further improvement to come. Extreme Step has won 2 from 5 overall and is a decent mare in the making. She looks the obvious danger to the favourite. Starlea has won once from 16 and is third favourite so tells you about the lack of strength in depth here. She’s Booming continues to knock on the door but she often finds one or two too good so is probably vulnerable for win purposes. Over Shady isn’t a bad filly but she is 0/4 over the trip and 0/2 at the track so enough to put me off. Berry Bubbly has won here before but put in a bit of a stinker at Flemington last month.
