MY AUSTRALIAN NAP RUNS IN RACE 7 AT ASCOT ON SATURDAY MORNING!
Race 7 Ascot 7.40 Alsephina (best price 7/4)
Good looking chestnut mare who has gone from strength to strength in recent starts and ran on strongly from off the pace to win a race here last month; more to come back up in trip and should be winning this.
Hard to get away from ALSEPHINA who has already won 6 from 8 and is eyeing up a four-timer here. She is 1-1 over track and trip and 3-3 at this course so is hard to get away from. She can still improve and it is no surprise to see her clear favourite for this. Above The Peg won here on penultimate start and then was a good second last time so on form looks the biggest danger. Tri For Us had been running to a decent level but she was poor last time and has a point to prove off the back of that. Casino Seventeen has won 4 times from 19 starts but is 0/5 over the trip and that is enough to put me off especially given the potential the favourite brings to the table.

Race 3 Sandown 2.45 Midtown Boss (best price 9/4)
Likeable colt who has won both starts since his debut run winning at Geelong and then over shorter here last month; building a nice profile already and with natural improvement hard to beat.
Great chance for the promising MIDTOWN BOSS to bring up a hat-trick of wins. He really impressed again last time showing a cracking attitude to prevail. This extra yardage will be right up his street and I’m keen to keep him on side. Russian Roni has won 2 from 6 and was back in the winners enclosure at Bendigo last time so should give the selection most to think about. No Drama is another one that needs consideration as impressed at Bendigo and is clearly on an upward trajectory as well. I just love the profile the favourite is building and think he might always be doing just enough to prevail again. Calico Jack would usually have a great shout but this is a race packed full of quality so needs more.
