Despite both The Netherlands and Argentina conceding in their Last 16 clash they both emerged victorious in the end and quite convincingly too. This looks a fascinating match in prospect with both teams defensively sound but also dangerous going forward. The winner will play either Croatia or Brazil in the Semi Finals.
Hard to split who has been the more impressive in the run-up to this Quarter Final match but The Netherlands find themselves unbeaten having beaten Senegal, Qatar and USA with a 1-1 draw against Ecuador in there as well. They have only conceded two goals and have looked more impressive than I thought they would. Gakpo has emerged as a young star and with Depay back from injury they have strengthen up top with him opening the scoring against USA. They will fancy themselves to give this a real go so we could be in for a decent game.
Argentina have been pretty relentless since losing that opening game to Saudi Arabia 2-1. Messi looked in top form against Australia and they have only conceded 3 goals (2 of which came in the opening game). I have been particularly impressed with them defensively and I do fancy them to come through this test. If you take out that freak result against Saudi Arabia their form is ridiculous. It is no surprise to see them as favourites for this but backing them and BTTS might be where the value is.
