Kempton 12.45
A tricky opener on ITV Racing on Tuesday with only 5 runners with form in here. Charles St was expected to do better at Warwick but somehow got beat a head. He had a habit of doing that on the Flat so might be opposable here. I like POSTMARK now over hurdles for Milton Harris. This horse was useful on the Flat winning at Lingfield back in the summer and this looks a winnable assignment over hurdles for the first time.
Him Malaya finished third of four at Newton Abbot and will need to improve markedly on that to feature but obviously it is still early days so not one to give up on. Artistic Choice won at Catterick but this will be a tough ask shouldering a 5lb penalty.
In a really open renewal it could pay to side with a trainer who as a great record in the race. Venetia Williams has won 6 of the last 10 renewals and she runs ENZO D’AIRY here who won a handicap chase over course and distance after 653 days off. He kept on really well that day and you would expect him to be even better with that run behind him so the 6lb penalty isn’t really a worry.
I don’t think it is a deep race with those at the top of the market with questions to answer so the main danger might actually be one at a bigger price with Broken Halo likely to improve a lot for the run like he did last season when he went close at the track. Numitor looks setup to run a big race as well at an each way price.

This is quite a trappy race with just the four runners heading to post. I still want to be with the favourite at the time of writing which is BOOTHILL for Harry Fry. He looked promising winning at Newton Abbot and then followed up beating an in-form horse at Ascot. He then bumped into Jonbon last time but should be able to resume his progress here if all goes to plan.
Aucunrisque is talented but needs to jump better to have a say in the outcome here. Lac De Constance is probably a biggest threat eyeing up a five-timer now after hacking up here last month. A 13lb rise will certainly make this tougher though so needs more.

This race is usually won by a smart sort who goes on to bigger things and there could be a few in here. COMFORT ZONE could be the standout after he won nicely on hurdles debut before following it up behind the classy Lossiemouth who is now favourite for the Triumph at Cheltenham. He is still improving but even if he ran to that level it might be good enough to win this.
Scriptwriter has the form in the book to be a danger but has a penalty here which will make it difficult for him. He beat Perseus Way on his last run who I think will be the main danger here after routing his opposition on the run after that. Of the rest Dixon Cove and Fils De Roi could both be pretty useful in what looks a good race.

Dan and Harry Skelton remain in top form and they have a good chance of another winner on Tuesday in the shape of GET A TONIC in the mares race. This 6yo was progressive last season winning 3 times and I thought she ran a really big race in defeat when second to Botox Has on return at Haydock last month. She knuckled down well for pressure and kept trying all the way to the line which I thought was really likeable. The form has been franked since with the fifth Complete Unknown winning nicely at Ffos Las last week. She is up 4lb but this track will suit and I think she can carry top weight to victory here.
Whitehotchillifili ran well when third at Sandown on return and while I can see her going well for a long way here I think she’ll be vulnerable in the closing stages. Coquelicot might pose a greater threat but a further 5lb rise demands more.
Chepstow 2.10
Even with just 11 runners there are plenty of great each way options with JUST A DIME looking a solid bet. He actually beat the favourite Flemenstide on debut last season and has had a prep-run like that rival. He ran well at Carlisle under a penalty last time and that will set him up nicely here off a decent weight. He has to go close if stripping fitter for the run.
There has been money for Flemenstide from a yard who could have improved him a fair bit since March. Of the rest the mare Sabrina could also be a big danger as she is fully fit and running well.
Kempton 2.30
There was lots to like about the way EDWARDSTONE powered away from them to win the Tingle Creek by 9 lengths at Sandown at the start of the month. He has now won 6 from his last 7 over fences and if in that sort of form again will be really tough to beat as his odds are suggesting. The only worry is if that last win took a bit out of him but I’m confident he can follow up here.
Nube Negra is a very talented horse himself and he had a nice run round making all and jumping well to win the Shloer Chase at Cheltenham last month. He only had to beat two rivals though so didn’t do anything that he wasn’t expected to. This is much tougher!
Chepstow 2.50
The Welsh National is always a nice treat after Boxing Day action and we have “quick” ground compared to most years. I have gone with a couple in here with ASK ME EARLY the shorter price of the two. He looks like this trip is what he needs at this stage of his career. He ran well to finish 3rd on his comeback run and will be better for that run. Even as a 8 year old he could have more to come at staying trips and will go well here.
MOVETHECHAINS put together a run of 4 wins last season and will like to make it 5 in-a-row here. He seems to be a lot better since going up in trip and this could bring even more out of him. You would expect Gary Moore to have him fit to start the season and could outrun his big price. The main dangers are Quick Wave who gives a fair bit of weight to my selections and The Galloping Bear who has been kept for this race.

I’ve been waiting to see REMASTERED out again and I get the impression the yard have been itching to run him as reports are encouraging from his homework. He made a winning reappearance over hurdles at Aintree impressing with how he galloped clear before being eased. Back over fences he ran a cracker when second to Le Milos at Newbury last month with the front pair clear and the field well strung out. He is 4lb higher but can still be a danger to all off this mark and I can see him giving weight and a beating to these.
Your Darling impressed beating Revels Hill at Ascot last month but that horse has let the form down since only managing fourth at Sandown at the start of the month. Fontaine Collonges won 2 from 4 over fences last season and returned with a gutsy win at Haydock last month. A 5lb rise isn’t too damaging and she might emerge as one of the main threats to the selection. Larry is also noted with confidence high following that Ascot romp.
