Cheltenham 1.20

L’Homme Presse won this last year and it has been won by the likes of Yanworth and Lostintranslation down the years so it often takes a good one. Surprisingly Nicholls hasn’t won it since 2015 where he was victorious with Ptit Zig so I’m going to chance THUNDER ROCK for Olly Murphy. This horse was progressive over hurdles and is now a perfect 2-2 over fences slamming Solo at Ascot latest. He could be a very nice prospect indeed.

Monmiral also did well over hurdles and bumped into Jonbon on chase debut so with improvement expected looks a big danger to the selection. Beauport made a winning chase debut at Carlisle and then bumped into Ballygrifincottage. Not without a chance.

Musselburgh 1.35

This is competitive but I do like MINELLA DRAMA in what appears an easier assignment than his first two starts this season. He probably did too much too soon when only fourth to Beauport at Carlisle but that is good form and he wasn’t disgraced when third to Hitman at Haydock given he stumbled 2 out. The second Erne River has run a cracker since to frank the form. If he jumps better here he is definitely the one to beat.

Pay The Piper is a horse I like but he is yet to look as fluent over fences as he was over hurdles. He made a mistake early on at Kelso and while he stayed on well his race was already run given the ground he lost. Of the rest Cooper’s Cross could threaten.

Cheltenham 1.55

This is a fiercely competitive renewal and it has been won by double-figure prices the last twice so SHAKEM UP’ARRY might be worth chancing for Ben Pauling. He ran on strongly to land a bit of a gamble at Exeter on reappearance and given the second Tile Tapper has chased home Remastered at Kempton since the form is extremely hard to knock. He is still just an 8yo so could be capable of further improvement over fences so is worth chancing.

Plenty of dangers but I did think Il Ridoto was a bit short seeing as he didn’t exactly hit the line with conviction at Cheltenham. I’d be more fearful of Midnight River who was a spot in front of him there. Brave Seasca is also likely to be in there for a long way.

Tramore 2.15

A race that Willie Mullins has made his own over the last few years winning it four times in a row with Al Boum Photo. Prior to that he won it with Bachasson so is seeking a sixth win in a row. He has a great chance too with STATTLER making his reappearance. This is a horse I think a lot of and he was one of my Cheltenham bankers. He obliged thrashing Run Wild Fred 8 lengths and should be up to making a winning return here.

Gold Cup winner Minella Indo obviously deserves respect especially seeing as he has won fresh in the past but he was out of sorts at Punchestown and might just need this to get back on track before targeting bigger pots down the line.

Cheltenham 2.30

I’ve been waiting to see I LIKE TO MOVE IT out again following that Greatwood romp. He made virtually all that day and there was a relentless way about how he galloped through the line so this step up half a mile in trip should see him progress again. He is clearly a young horse firmly on the upgrade and I think he appeals as being great value against the favourite Marie’s Rock. It wouldn’t surprise me if they were a lot closer on the day.

Marie’s Rock has won 4 of her last 5 and brought up the hat-trick in Ireland when last seen back in April. She is clearly extremely talented but isn’t always easy to catch right. This is tough enough on return. Knappers Hill is the danger as he also has more to come.

Musselburgh 2.45

Al Zaraqaan has been thoroughly progressive over hurdles of late and impressed again over C&D last time. This is another step up though and he is mixing it with the big boys now. I think he might prove vulnerable and the fact he is favourite makes this a great race to get stuck into. I really like HOMME PUBLIC who won readily at Wetherby before chasing home Love Envoi and Playful Saint at Sandown. That has been franked so obvious claims.

Of those at bigger prices Parisencore showed a good attitude to prevail at Wetherby on reappearance and is better than what he showed at Newbury last time. If he bounces back from that blip then he would have solid place claims. Socialist Agenda also has a squeak.

Cheltenham 3.05

I was really impressed with how ABUFFALOSOLDIER galloped through the line at Newbury last month and given the front pair pulled 6 lengths clear and the second Steal A March has won since the form looks really strong. He is completely unexposed over this trip so if he improves again which I’m sure he will then he could serve it up to this field. I’m definitely keen to keep him on side.

Jet Of Magic has a likeable way of going and impressed winning by 11 lengths at Hereford on debut for this yard. He was denied a neck at Taunton but has more to offer so looks the danger. Wilde About Oscar should have a bigger performance in him so he is also noted.
