NAP – Best tip overnight
MY AUSTRALIAN NAP WON AGAIN OVERNIGHT AND RUNS AT GATTON ON THURSDAY!
Race 5 Gatton 5.05 Tolkowsky (best price 10/11)
Caught the eye missing by just a nose at Ipswich last month; brings the best form into this race and slight step up in trip will only help so obvious chance to get himself back in the winners enclosure here; worth chancing.
This represents a great opportunity for TOLKOWSKY to get his head back in front. He missed by just a nose at Ipswich last time and if in the same form here will likely prove too good for these. He is unexposed over this trip so should have more to offer and can justify favouritism. Heleva Deel looks to be the only conceivable danger as she ran well when fourth at Mount Gambier and backed that up again on reappearance when third at Toowoomba. She is a little more exposed but certainly has the credentials to give the favourite a race at least. Lexi’s Choice has just 2 wins from 47 starts and needs to better recent form to get involved. Giveitallali might be the value to rattle the frame.

Race 3 Benalla 3.30 Capistan (best price 6/5)
Notably well backed in the betting when runner-up on debut at Wangaratta last month; improved to run third in a better race at the same venue last time, form looks solid; can progress again so likely hard to beat.
That form behind Keefneedsafeed (my Notebook later on the card) looks solid so I’m expecting CAPISTAN to win this with the promise of more to come. His trainer Patrick Payne does well at this track and it is no surprise to see his 3yo top the betting for this winnable race. Aunty Doll was a good third at Wangaratta last month and backed that up with another solid run last time. Lacks gears but should run her race again and is the most likely danger in a race lacking strength in depth. Mr Rouquin was promising on debut but didn’t really back that up beaten 5 lengths last time. Medinah could only manage sixth on debut and will need to leave that behind to take a hand in this race.
