Race 1 Kembla Grange 2.15 Western Front (best price 6/4)
Promising type who caught the eye on debut Down Under finishing midfield at Gosford last time, only beaten 2 lengths at the line; sure to strip fitter from that and can improve again too so leading claims here.
There was lots to like about the way WESTERN FRONT finished off his race at Gosford last time. He only just failed to get in the placings and was beaten 2 lengths at the finish. He will improve markedly from that and given he won second time up before he looks worth chancing here. He has only had 6 starts so should have plenty more to come yet and looks sure to run a big race. Xtrarevz made the breakthrough at Canberra last time and will come here with confidence high so looks the danger. Calm Down is a fair yardstick despite only having the 1 win from 10 starts. She will likely be in there pitching for a long way. Thailand best of the rest but definitely needs more and the others are likely struggling.

Race 9 Warwick 7.53 Friend Of God (best price 7/4)
Likeable mare who improved again to get her head back in front at Kilcoy last time, running on strongly to win easily by 4 lengths; looks to have found the right race to follow up in so worth keeping safe.
With 3 wins to her name now FRIEND OF GOD is building a nice profile. She was much the best last time and a similar effort here will likely suffice. She is back up in trip but is open to improvement so deserves to be favourite. Steinbrenner is a decent yardstick but he has gone off the boil somewhat in recent starts and was poor at Doomben last time. Dinny’s A Suspect might be a greater threat as he has won his last 3 now and while this is tougher I think he’ll give another good account. Smokey Diamond needs to better what we’ve seen lately and was poor at Ipswich so is passed over. East Esplanade is even more exposed but at least shaped quite well when third over C&D last time so could hit the frame again.
