Monday’s Best Tips
TIME TO BOOST THAT CHELTENHAM POT! Racing to start a new week on Monday from Plumpton, Ayr and Wolverhampton. Daily Double pays 8/1!
NAP – My best tip of the day
Wolverhampton 8.30 Johnny Boom (best price 2/1)
Likeable type who looked better than ever winning twice here over the winter; back in the winners enclosure over C&D earlier this month; only denied narrowly at Southwell latest; looks a leading contender.
With the promise of more to come over a mile and a half JOHNNY BOOM gets a confident vote to return to winning ways. He clocked a career best winning easily over track and trip earlier in the month and then acquitted himself well in defeat beaten just half a length at Southwell last time. The winner Dubai Jeanius has already franked that form following up next time out. He is up another 2lb here but clearly arrives at the top of his game and given he still remains relatively unexposed over the trip he should improve again and get back to winning ways. Lexington Knight is also a previous C&D winner and he is better than what he showed last time so if bouncing back could be the danger. First Charge is a course winner too and is another one to note in opposition.
Plumpton 3.00 Blame The Game (best price 2/1)
Denied just a neck in the Sussex National here last time when bidding for a hat-trick of wins; front pair came clear so that was a really good effort; 5lb higher but back down in trip and hard to oppose.
I’m keen to stick with BLAME THE GAME back down to this trip. He ran a cracker in the Sussex National here last month and was beaten by the right horse in Atakan. They pulled 5 and a half lengths clear from D’jango back in third with the field well strung out in behind. He is up 5lb but deservedly so and with Freddie Gordon now in the saddle taking off 3lb he has plenty going for him again. Sublime Heights showed a great attitude to peg back Art Of Illusion over C&D last month and is the obvious danger up 5lb from that. The runner-up has let that form down badly since coincidentally finishing last behind D’jango. On collateral form that makes the favourite a really strong play. Goudhurst Star is very lightly raced and up in trip might be capable of better now.
