Thursday’s Australian Horse Racing Tips

MY AUSTRALIAN NAP WON OVERNIGHT AND RUNS IN RACE 5 AT IPSWICH!
Race 5 Ipswich 5.40 Lately (best price 6/4)
Promising type who rounded off last campaign winning 2 of his last 3; looked to need the outing on return at Eagle Farm and expected to strip much fitter now; with more to come should resume winning ways.
I’m surprised LATELY isn’t odds-on here as he looks a cut above everything in this race. He needed the run on reappearance and after just a handful of starts I’ll be amazed if he doesn’t improve again. If he does he’ll have too many gears for this field. Smokey Diamond finished nearer last than first at Sunshine Coast and will need to bounce back in a big way to have a chance here. Flybridge is more exposed but might still be the bigger danger but also has something to find on recent form. Zadig shaped better at Gatton but I’m still not sure that form would have him competitive here. The majority of this field has something to prove which makes the favourite a really good bet. Aliraaj, Seeress and Storm Attack all look out their depth on what we’ve seen.

Race 7 Pakenham 9.45 Marble Arch (best price 6/4)
Progressive filly who has won both starts since finishing third on debut, convincing again here last time; can keep improving for a while yet and well placed to complete the hat-trick; definitely worth keeping safe.
The hat-trick looks to be on the cards for MARBLE ARCH at Pakenham overnight. She is a nice filly going the right way now and she looks to have found another winnable race. She bolted up by 4 and a half lengths on penultimate start and then followed up with a bit up her sleeve again last time. Bel Air impressed winning over track and trip last month but then finished nearly last at Flemington and might be up against it even if bouncing back. Helix won on debut but this is tougher but if he improves he might finish second. Dodi won here last time but again this has much more strength in depth and I think he’ll be left vulnerable. Quite a few other winners in the field but all with enough to find if the selection is as good as I’m hoping she is.
