Race 8 Ballarat 6.35 Kentucky Nick (best price 1/1)
Promising type who deservedly got his head in front over track and trip last month; hit the line hard from off the pace so lots to like; more to come and should be able to follow up.
No surprise to see KENTUCKY NICK a warm order to follow up at Ballarat on Tuesday. He was a very nice winner from off the pace last time and I can see a similar scenario panning out. He relished the step up in trip and is very much the one to be with again. Playing It Safe has won just 2 from 14 but is often thereabouts and might be the one to chase him home if she builds on that third last time. Royal Fox hasn’t been running badly but needs to show more to win this. Lord Goldberg won at Werribee on penultimate start before running just okay at Stawell. Needs the step back up in trip to see him improve again to spring an upset.

Race 2 Hawkesbury 2.50 High Plateau (best price 6/4)
Improving sort who ran on strongly from off the speed to win convincingly at Kembla Grange last month; sure to progress from that initial effort and good chance to go a perfect 2-2.
Cummings and Rawiller team up with the promising HIGH PLATEAU at Hawkesbury on Tuesday and I’ll be surprised if this horse is beaten. He won nicely on debut and with natural improvement looks well placed to remain unbeaten. He hit the line hard last time and if they go a good gallop again here he will be rattling home. Tragara arrives with confidence high after winning at Newcastle and she looks the main danger. Thinking Rain is proving a little frustrating but this is easier so she shouldn’t be entirely overlooked. Scream won on penultimate start but let backers down badly last time and has a point to prove as a result.
