MY AUSTRALIAN NAP WON OVERNIGHT AND RUNS IN RACE 5 AT TOWNSVILLE!
Race 5 Townsville 5.25 Phantom Spirit (best price 11/8)
Promising type who has taken his form up a notch in recent starts making it back-to-back wins at this track the last twice; up slightly in trip but the hat-trick very much looks on the cards now.
Hard to look past PHANTOM SPIRIT as he bids to complete a course hat-trick. He has looked good the last twice and with more to come now he should come out on top again. Golden Gorge has some good form to his name but he has gone off the boil in recent starts and needs to bounce back to get seriously competitive. Bones won on penultimate start but disappointed last time so is going to need to get back on track to land a blow. The rest all seem to be up against it including Imposing Beau who is just 1 from 6 over the trip but I guess did shape a bit better when fifth last time at least.

Race 6 Toowoomba 11.15 Substitution (best price 15/8)
Progressive form in recent starts arriving here chasing a hat-trick of wins now; won with plenty to spar at Gold Coast last time and if improving again looks well placed to score.
Big chance for SUBSTITUTION to make it 3 in a row. He won by nearly 3 lengths at Gold Coast and is clearly thriving on his racing right now. And Over Again is a decent yardstick and looks the danger. He is more exposed but does have 6 wins to his name which shouldn’t be knocked. Similar comments can apply to Oakfield Target who has 8 wins from 49 starts. Knocked on the door at Chinchilla last time having won at Bell prior to that. He will likely be in there pitching for a long way before ultimately coming up short. Monday Monday less exposed but blew out last time and that is enough to put me off.
