Cheltenham 1.30
A fiercely competitive race from Cheltenham to kick off ITV Racing on Wednesday and I can see GEMIRANDE running well. This horse has been ultra consistent this season with form figures of 221212 and only missed by a head at Newbury last time. He should still be capable of better over fences and if running to that sort of level again should run a big race. He is usually ridden forward and may well prove tough to pass in the closing stages under Charlie Deutsch.
Heltenham is also a chaser on the up having galloped out strongly to win at Newbury last month and despite the further rise in weights he has to be feared with more to come. Captain Tom Cat was back to form going down a length at Plumpton last time and is another one that should enter calculations.
Wide open handicap with the bookies going 7/1 the field. I have had two each way bets in this with SUPREME KING being the main bet. He ran a cracker on his seasonal reappearance losing by just a short head. He looks to have stepped forward a fair bit in the off season and will be much better for the run. Even in a hot race he is the one to beat.
At a much bigger price DIONYSIAN could run a big race even under a penalty. He has won his lost two races at a mile easily and if running to that level on turf he won’t be far away. The main dangers look to be Cobalt Blue and Burdett Road with the former a decent 2 year old over a mile and Burdett Road has fitness on his side and this trip should suit.
Newmarket 2.25
I’m going to stick with a horse in-form in the shape of ALEEZDANCER for Kevin Ryan. This 4yo made a winning return at Doncaster at the start of the month and looks a sprinter firmly on the upgrade now. He is up 7lb but with the conditions looking ideal he should go close. It will be interesting to see who he tracks through as there isn’t masses of pace around him but if it pans out well for him he should have every chance.
Probe won on return at Wolverhampton and if transferring that form to turf could have a big say. Orazio is a nice looking colt who has only had 4 starts so if he improves he could get involved. Spirit Of Light ran well here yesterday when third to Rebel Territory so is unlikely to line up for this.
Newmarket 3.00
John Gosden has a cracking record in this race and Intinso is rightly popular at the top of the market but I am going to take him on with BOLD ACT. He has fitness on his side after a nice win at Chelmsford which should have him bang on for this race. He has form of 21111 coming into this race and with Charlie Appleby’s horses flying he will surely be bang there.
Intinso has run once, winning a novice race at Newcastle. He did it with ease and I don’t doubt he is a class horse but it is his first run of the season and the form of that race looks poor despite how easily he beat them. He will be a big danger but there are a few others who could go well including Canberra Legend and Regal Honour.
Newmarket 3.35
Coppice made a bright start winning on debut last year and she is clearly an exciting prospect for the season ahead but that bare form doesn’t amount to much and there could be some nice types in opposition. I’m keen on No Nay Never filly GIRL RACER running a big race for William Haggas and Tom Marquand. She is a good looking sort who didn’t run as a 2yo and made a perfect start scoring impressively at Wolverhampton last month. She will be fit and is likely to improve and despite the step up in grade could easily surprise a few.
Of the rest Fairy Cross won 2 from 4 as a 2yo and then bumped into Mawj over in Dubai back in February. She sets the standard on her juvenile form and should show up well for a long way as long as those recent excursions haven’t taken their toll.
ITV Racing Lucky 15
With 5 races live on ITV Racing on Wednesday I’ve taken four of my strongest bets to make a Lucky 15. If we can land 3/4 winners we would make some decent profit. Pays 1,560/1!
ITV Racing Lucky 15
Newmarket 1.50 Supreme King
