Race 3 Sandown 4.30 Ferago (best price 6/5)

Likeable type who looked back on the up winning at Moonee Valley on penultimate start last year; needed the run on return at Warrnambool and expected to step forward plenty from that now.

With both Daiquiri and Mimi’s Award both out this looks a great opportunity for FERAGO to make it 2 wins from his last 3. He is still improving and will be a lot fitter now following that comeback second. He goes back up in trip which should suit and he is the most likely winner. Alhambra Lad didn’t shape badly when third at Ballarat last time and if building on that could get competitive again but needs more to spring an upset. Flash Mary has won just 3 from 22 and is going to need to find more from somewhere.

Race 5 Muswellbrook 6.20 Mon Pierre (best price 11/8)

Promising type who caught the eye going close in fourth on debut at Kembla Grange at the start of the month; sure to improve from that initial effort and well placed to make the breakthrough now.

With a better draw here MON PIERRE might not come back from them this time. He will be a lot more streetwise now with that debut run under his belt and looks to have the most potential in this field. He will bounce out and should have every chance of making the breakthrough now. Storm’s End was a good second at Dubbo last time and she could threaten but will need to improve again. Samita was better when fourth last time but she’ll still need a sizeable chunk of improvement to get involved in this.
