Southwell 5.45
No surprise to see Harry Angel colt CRIMSON SPIRIT clear favourite for this. He is one of the least exposed types in here and improved to open his account at Epsom last time. He hit the line hard and now handicapping off a mark of just 81 should have more to come. Kieran Shoemark gets the leg up and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him well backed come post time.
Bits And Bobs looked promising initially but has proved expensive to follow and again failed to show much on debut for Jamie Osborne at Kempton at the weekend. Buttercross Flyer might be the danger after improving to win at Newcastle last time. She could probably do with a soft lead again.
Southwell 6.15
Plenty of in-form horses heading to post for this but IMPERIAL DREAM was back to winning ways impressively at Chepstow last time and given that was an apprentice event he has escaped a penalty. He almost certainly has more to offer and could be well placed to follow up. Even some of his form in defeat stacks up so he really should be the one to beat.
Hard to pinpoint an exact danger but fellow last time out winner Aphelios impressed beating a course specialist Zero Carbon at Kempton and if in similar form will get competitive. Yaaser is also capable and 7f looks his trip so he might run a big race as well.
Southwell 6.45
Irish raider TOSEN WISH was right back to form at Newcastle last month and given the winner has followed up since to frank the form he must be well handicapped off just a 1lb higher mark. A 3lb claimer has been booked too so he is actually better off at the weights and if proving as effective on this surface he will take a lot of stopping.
Dionysian remains unexposed and has run well the last twice so has to be feared. Billy Mill missed a nose and then won last time and Hat Toss went close at Windsor so they are another pair expected to get competitive in an open race.
Southwell 7.15
The Racing League has been kind to Saffie Osborne and she might be worth backing again here on HIERARCHY for her father Jamie. He is joint top-weight but after coming down the handicap has definitely shown more the last twice. He was beaten less than 3 lengths at Goodwood last time having been slowly into stride. Down a further 2lb if breaking on terms could have a better chance than his odds suggest.
Nordic Passage will probably go off favourite after beating Razzam at Newcastle. That is good form and he will be a danger to all once more. Amazonian Dream has been holding his form well too and is another one that should get involved.
Southwell 7.45
The hat-trick seeking SEA STONE looks to have a great chance with Frankie Dettori in the saddle. He took his form up a notch again to spring somewhat of an upset at Kempton on penultimate start and then followed up at Newmarket beating a good horse in King Eagle with the field well strung out in behind. He is up 4lb again but has more to come as his stamina is drawn out and is worth keeping on side.
Zain Nights beat Aggagio at Goodwood last time and given the latter loves that track that was a good effort. He went close at Kempton prior to that so is on the upgrade recently. Diamond Bay also won last time and has won 2 of his last 4 now so should also have a say.
Southwell 8.15
This is competitive but ANGLE LAND deserves to win a nice pot and it was good to see her back to form when a close second to Lihou at Goodwood last month. Running off the same mark with Dettori getting the leg up now we could see a big run. She won off this mark earlier in the season so there shouldn’t be any excuses. She likes to go forward so I don’t think she’ll be far off the speed and that could prove beneficial.
Lil Guff has knocked on the door the last twice and Sean Levey will be looking for another Racing League winner. Never Dark was back in the winners enclosure at Hamilton last time so is another one arriving here with confidence high off just a 2lb higher mark.
Southwell 8.45
Connections would have been hoping for better with SCAMPI in the Ebor but he didn’t run badly beaten just over 4 lengths into midfield. He is still armed with potential and his win at Ascot prior to that was a good effort. Back in trip and in easier company I think he can get back on track. I thought he’d be shorter than 11/2 so that looks a price worth taking too.
Regal Empire was back to winning ways at Ascot last time and looks the biggest danger off the back of that. He showed a good attitude under pressure and that could count for plenty here. Onesmoothoperator also respected around here.
