Newbury 1.15
The money was down for OUR FOLLET at Ffos Las and he went forward and made all the running to land some tasty bets. He has been soundly beaten the last twice but had excuses on chase debut at Carlisle last time. He is the type to do well over fences and dropped 4lb if they go forward with him I honestly wouldn’t be surprised to see an upset here. This is a weak race and he could yet prove himself to be well handicapped.
Martator represents Venetia Williams but is likely to be overbet as a result. Guy could go well but he also comes here with a bit to prove and is quite short in the betting. Issar D’airy is another to note if taking to fences at the first time of asking.
Haydock 1.25
This looks a great opportunity for COLLECTORS ITEM to open his account over fences. He has gradually improved and shaped with promise when fourth at Sandown last time. Stepping up in trip again is only going to help as his stamina is drawn out further and he looks well handicapped off a mark of just 129.
Fortescue was fourth behind Nassalam at Chepstow which is obviously decent form so he looks the danger if managing to build on that now.
Newbury 1.50
The likeable STEAL A MARCH was progressing well when last seen winning 2 of his last 3 starts. He has been off for over a year so his fitness is taken on trust but if ready to go he will be a danger to all here. He is only 4lb higher so with more to come should have a great chance.
Get A Tonic impressed bouncing back to win emphatically here last time but an 8lb rise certainly demands more and that is enough to put me off especially as she is favourite too. Irish Hill might be the danger if the first-time blinkers spark him back into life.
Taunton 2.10
The hat-trick may well be on the cards for the progressive QUEENS GAMBLE here. She made an impressive start on debut for Harry Derham at Kempton last month and with more to come is expected to follow up.
Casa No Mento impressed winning head in chest at Hereford and if improving again looks the danger. This is definitely tougher though and the form could have worked out better.
Newbury 2.25
This is fiercely competitive but ATLANTA BRAVE looks to have a great chance. He was an excellent second to Enjoy Your Life at Exeter last month and that is strong form. He is unexposed and if improving again will go close.
Laskalin has failed to sparkle in recent starts but has come down the weights as a result. He could run well as could Bowtogreatness who is back down in class.
Taunton 2.45
I’m really struggling to dissect this race so I’ve chanced the outsider of the whole field in MOKA DE VASSY bouncing back. He was disappointing at Cheltenham when last seen but this is much easier and his third to Goshhowposh at Exeter before that was a good run. That form has worked out and he could get competitive again here.
Game Winner is the most likely winner as he is on a good mark and has cheekpieces on for the first time. I did think he’d run better last time though and he is short enough in the betting.
Newbury 3.00
I know he was sent off cramped odds on hurdles debut but it was hard not to be impressed with the way WILLMOUNT bounded clear to record a bloodless victory. He travelled so strongly through the race and kept coming further clear on the run for home. He should love going up in trip and looks a good bet to remain unbeaten.
Captain Teague impressed at Chepstow but was then beaten at Cheltenham. He retains potential and looks the danger.
Newbury 3.35
I am really keen on PASSING WELL here. So much so that he is one of my strongest bets of the day. He stayed on strongly to peg back Heva Rose at Lingfield and remains unexposed as a stayer over fences. He has plenty of improvement to come and a mark of just 125 almost certainly underestimates him.
Walking On Air was fairly smart over hurdles and is the type to take to fences so could go well on chase debut. Golden Son is also respected but needs to bounce back.
