York 2.15

Not huge amounts to go on here but I was impressed with that debut win from Calyx filly IT AIN’T TWO at Newmarket and with natural improvement she should have a good chance to follow up. The fourth from that race Seraphim Angel has won the Lily Agnes at Chester since so the form has been strongly franked. Even the sixth Miss Rascal came out and won at Ascot like a nice prospect so it’s working out really well.

In terms of a danger Kingman filly Running Queen got off the mark at Salisbury last time and I rate the second Betty Clover so that is decent form. The latter actually takes her chance again here and she might be able to outrun her odds as she conceded first run.

York 2.15

It Ain’t Two 6/1 each way

Main danger Running Queen but Betty Clover could run well too

Newbury 2.30

A tricky puzzle to solve from Newbury now and the vote goes to GALLANT LION who has joined Alan King. This 4yo made an encouraging start over C&D last month running on well for third and if building on that off just a 1lb higher mark he should get competitive. Hopefully he doesn’t settle too far off the pace and there aren’t any excuses when trying to come through.

Mustazeed won twice over C&D including this race last year and with Hayley Turner back in the saddle running fresh he has a big shout. Cracksking should leave his reappearance run behind and is another one in with a shout.

Newbury 2.30

Gallant Lion 5/1 each way

Main danger Mustazeed but watch out for Cracksking as well

York 2.45

The money came for BOTANICAL at Hamilton on final start last year and he made no mistake bolting up by 6 lengths. The horse he beat won the Lincoln earlier in the season and there were some solid handicappers in behind too. This step back up in trip on return should suit and despite a 10lb higher mark he has scope to do better as a 4yo.

Majestic continues to run well and again caught the eye a bit in defeat when fourth behind Liberty Lane at Newmarket. The handicapper has left him off the same mark so he should be bang there once more. Reach was progressive when last seen and is another one to be fearful of in this.

York 2.45

Botanical 7/2

Main danger Majestic but Reach could get involved too

York 3.15

The way TRUE CYAN won on debut as a 2yo was impressive and given the form worked out well after she still has a lot of potential despite only finishing fourth in the Nell Gwyn on return. I thought she shaped as though she’d improve plenty for that outing and she had some nice types in front of her on that occasion anyway. She is open to further improvement now stretching out to a mile and looks good value against the favourite.

Devoted Queen is unbeaten having won both starts to date but she hasn’t done anything special on the clock and will need to improve again to complete the hat-trick. Bolsena impressed winning easily at Newmarket last time and could be best of the rest.

York 3.15

True Cyan 4/1 VALUE TIP

Main danger Devoted Queen

York 3.45

Aidan O’Brien has never won the Yorkshire Cup but he has a great chance this time around with the progressive TOWER OF LONDON. This Galileo colt has won his last two and that latest form over in Dubai has already been franked with a horse finishing well down the field winning since. He is lightly raced so likely has more to come and looks the one to side with.

Vauban is greatly respected despite failing to give his running when last seen in the Melbourne Cup. Hamish is also in top form and is respected.

York 3.45

Tower Of London 6/4 NAP

Main danger Vauban

York 4.15

I was already going with UNDER SIEGE but after Economics bolted up in the Dante yesterday he looks to have an outstanding chance now. He stayed on well on debut and the field was well strung out in behind. He is sure to improve from that initial outing and with the form strongly franked he should go one better now. Expect him to be a warm order.

Lead Artist is bred to be smart and was only denied a nose on debut at Newmarket so if improving on that looks the obvious danger. First Conquest beat the latter on debut and will improve too so is also feared.

York 4.15

Under Siege 10/3

Main danger Lead Artist but respect First Conquest as well

York 4.45

Eldrickjones landed a nice gamble at Newcastle last time and he looks a 5yo on the up but this won’t be easy and at a bigger price ELIGIBLE makes plenty of appeal. He won this race last year and despite not firing recently is back down to his last winning mark so back at this track could easily spark back into life.

Danzan isn’t getting any younger but was beat just a length at Thirsk and is 2lb below his last winning mark so is another one I can see getting involved. Red Mirage won fresh at Catterick but isn’t a certainty to back that up here despite a 3lb rise looking lenient.

York 4.45

Eligible 12/1 each way

Main danger Danzan

York 5.20

I know VINCE L’AMOUR failed to land the hat-trick at Chester but he ran a cracker going down just a neck and off the same mark if he gets a better toe into the race I can see him going close. He is still open to further progress given this is just his fifth start in a handicap and he is a little overpriced at around 10/1 at the time of writing.

Enchanting won at Beverley and then ran well when third at Wolverhampton. She should be sharper from that reappearance run and could be the danger. Hedge Fund is off an unchanged mark and is another one to note.

York 5.20

Vince L’amour 10/1 each way

Main danger Enchanting but Hedge Fund will go well too
