Newbury 1.50
That was a really pleasing return run from DESERT HERO to go down just a head at Sandown. I rate the winner Okeechobee and he had all the momentum swooping down the outside. He steps back up to a mile and a half here which will prove ideal and it is no surprise to see the money coming for him. I think he’ll win this before being targeted at some bigger pots throughout the summer.
Middle Earth won 3 of his last 4 as a 3yo and could be the danger on his return but a mile and a half might just be on the sharp side. Salt Bay ran well behind Hamish here on return and is another one to keep an eye on today and going forward.
Newmarket 2.05
This is definitely one of the more competitive races of the day and quite a hard one to solve. I have come down on SO LOGICAL for John and Thady Gosden. This filly caught the eye on reappearance and then won a maiden in good style at Newcastle last month. She goes handicapping now and should have more to offer with Hollie Doyle getting the leg up.
The danger looks to be Dashing Darcey who was denied the hat-trick at Newbury but ran well and again backed that up in third at Chester last time. He has more to come and should run well.
Newbury 2.25
Relief Rally didn’t see out the trip as strong over 7f on return and back down to 6f will be a danger to all but he is being overbet in the market. I prefer ADAAY IN DEVON at a double-figure price. She won twice at Bath and then ran right up to form just bumping into one at Ascot last time. If she repeats that she will be a big player here.
James’s Delight has won 2 of his last 3 and is another one I expect to go well but he is back up in grade and this will be a big test of his credentials. Mister Sketch is another one potentially capable of better again.

Main danger Relief Rally but James’s Delight and Mister Sketch are feared in an open race
Newmarket 2.40
After that impressive win at Chester I have no doubt DIVINE LIBRA is the one to beat in this. He went through the race like a smart horse and was going away at the finish. Everything is in place for another big run and I don’t think a 7lb rise will be enough to stop him in his tracks. He has gone well at this track before so proves he can handle the undulations and it is hard to find many weaknesses if any.
Desert Cop impressed winning her last time and if backing that up over a furlong further could be a threat. Quinault was a revelation last year winning 7 times and is another one you couldn’t discount.
Newbury 3.00
I was at Sandown when GOODWOOD ODYSSEY swooped home to win and visually it was quite impressive. He was ridden like a good horse and once angled out came home strongly. He has gone up 7lb but almost certainly has more to offer and even with this looking competitive I think he has a great chance. He is definitely one of my stronger bets of the day.
Chantilly was impressive at Leopardstown and over from Ireland looks the danger for Aidan O’Brien. King’s Gambit could still be a nice prospect too and is another one who has claims in this.
Newmarket 3.15
I’ve decided to take a chance on HE’S A GENTLEMAN at a decent price here. He chased home Divine Libra who runs earlier on the card and that is decent form. he has been left off the same mark stepping back up to a mile and if this pans out favourably I think he could surprise a few in this.
Hopeful has the flashy profile and she only went down narrowly at Redcar so if building on that would be the danger. Cabinet Of Clowns is likely best watched on return but I’ll be interested to see how he goes with an eye to the future.

Newbury 3.35
I’m looking forward to seeing INSPIRAL again and she locks horns with Big Rock once more. She came out on top in that battle when the pair met in France last year and she was so impressive when last seen winning at the Breeders’ Cup. She has such a potent turn of foot and if anywhere near her best should have too much for these rivals.
Big Rock should run well but he’d probably want the heavens to open to have a serious chance. That Ascot win was impressive but the ground was quite testing. Charyn impressed at Sandown and isn’t one to entirely rule out either.
