Kempton 1.50
Kicking off ITV Racing on Saturday with our best bet of the day in RUBAUD for Paul Nicholls. This horse achieved a decent level over hurdles and things seem to be coming together over fences now. He was only beaten a length by L’eau Du Sud at Warwick and with more to come up in trip he is expected to be a cut above these.
Imperial Saint is likeable and has won 4 of his last 6 including 3 from 5 over fences so looks the danger but will need to raise his game again out of handicap company if he is to spring an upset.
Newcastle 2.10
A fiercely competitive renewal of the Eider as you’d expect so I’ve taken two against the field. I do really like the chances of CHOOSETHENEWS as the ground looks perfect for him. He is still unexposed and ran a very good race beaten just a couple of lengths here last month. He should be spot on for this now and has likely been trained for the race too.
The other one I like is PASSING WELL for Jamie Snowden. He was only beaten a head at Lingfield last time and a return to better ground might help him. He has some very good form to his name and is expected to be in the mix at a double-figure price. Dangers headed by Gaboriot who could finish well if they go hard. Collectors Item is another one to note.

Kempton 2.25
The Adonis very much revolves around MONDO MAN who was an excellent second to Lulamba on hurdles debut at Ascot last month. He was just way too keen and if settling better here should prove too good for these. He’ll be wanting to win this en route to having a crack at the Triumph next month for which he is around 14/1.
Opec should put good pace to the race which will help the favourite. Sauvignon ran no race at Cheltenham and was pulled up but this track might suit better and he gives the impression he could still be quite a nice horse so does look the danger even though he has a bit to prove at present.
Southwell 2.40
I know Marshman beat DILIGENT HARRY at Lingfield but I’m confident the latter can reverse the form here. He clearly needed the run there and he won this race last year tanking through the race always looking the winner. He will be spot on now and with William Buick booked I think he looks a great bet.
Marshman carries a penalty and is also 0/4 over 5f so I think there is enough there to try and oppose. Valiant Force has been well backed and ticks the age trend so could emerge as the main danger if things pan out favourably.
Kempton 3.00
I’m looking forward to seeing MIAMI MAGIC out again. He looked impressive winning his first two starts over hurdles and then bumped into Potters Charm at Aintree, battling on well in the closing stages. He is open to further improvement and looks a horse to keep firmly on side. There is tons of pace on so I’m hoping he gets a lead as I think that could help him even more.
Tropoli Flyer is likeable and is progressing well so is one to note in opposition and is probably the likely danger. I am a fan of Andashan though and he won nicely last time but probably wanted more rain to spring an upset in this as it is a very good race.
Southwell 3.15
The market can’t seem to make up its mind here for the Winter Derby but I’d be confident ROYAL CHAMPION can see this trip out. He looked good beating Tyrrhenian Sea at Lingfield and that horse has franked the form since beating Maljoom next time out so that form is really strong. He has to prove himself up in trip but remains very talented and is the one to beat.
Military Academy has won 3 from 4 and is clearly a nice horse himself but first-time cheekpieces concern me a bit given he has been progressive. He should have more to come but I wouldn’t back him against the selection. Persica would have been a lively each way shout but there are only 2 places up for grabs as only 7 runners sadly.
Kempton 3.35
I really like the chances of GOLDEN SON in the lucky last at a price. I thought he caught the eye when third behind Beachcomber last time and obviously is better off with that rival. There is tons of pace on too and he will be ridden patiently by Cobden. He won here this time last year and is well handicapped so 9/1 was way too big and he is being backed.
Hyland is favourite and deservedly so. If he gets jumping he’ll be hard to peg back. Lowry’s Bar has a big weight which is a bit concerning but he is a smart horse so has to be respected. Heltenham is another one I can see getting competitive at a decent price so I wouldn’t put you off him either.
