Musselburgh 3.45
I just think CODE PURPLE raced too freely when beaten at Newcastle on return. A mile suits much better and if he settles here with a run under his belt he could get competitive off his current mark. He won here last year and I think the harder they go the better for him.
Shine On Brendan has top-weight but that’s deservedly so as he arrives on a hat-trick so he looks the danger. Between Me And U is another one worth noting.
Musselburgh 4.15
The market is speaking positively about Clear Force for Karl Burke. He certainly looks the part on paper and cost 62,000 guineas as a yearling. He should run well but is short enough and DICKENSIAN might be better value.
He is bred to be smart too being by Pinatubo and Kevin Ryan won this last year with Barrak so usually has a forward type. Of the rest Star Material is another interesting debutant that could show up well.
Musselburgh 4.45
A field of 16 head to post for this sprint and I’ve got to be honest it is a bit of a puzzle. ETERNAL SUNSHINE should leave that reappearance run behind though. She ran a similar race last year before being progressive through the season and the yard won this last year with American Affair too.
Only Spoofing was denied a run at Bellewstown and if building on that could be one of the dangers. Alligator Alley is also respected.
Musselburgh 5.15
Another race where I feel the favourite is just too short. I know James Owen won this last year with Destinado but Sportingsilvermine only won by a neck at Southwell and I wasn’t keen with the way he hung a furlong out. He will go close but shouldn’t be that short.
LETSBEFRANK is capable and looked firmly on the up when last seen winning 3 of his last 5 starts. He has more to come this season and is fancied to run a big race.
Musselburgh 5.45
The hat-trick seeking MARHABA GHAIYYATH should take a lot of beating here. He showed a good attitude to make all at Wolverhampton last month and now handicapping could easily step forward again. An opening mark of 84 seems lenient and he is the one to beat.
Magellan Cloud was off the mark on final start as a 2yo and can also do better this term so looks the danger. Arbitration is another one that enters calculations.
Musselburgh 6.15
Another fiercely competitive handicap and I’m keen to chance JONNY CONCRETE at decent each way odds. He won 2 of his last 4 starts last season and impressed winning at Ayr on final outing. He is likely well handicapped so as long as he doesn’t need the run he should get involved.
Rock Melody is capable of her current mark and if ready to fire on return could go close. Stockpyle is like to be fav and is another one to note.
Musselburgh 6.45
I can see NEW IMAGE taking a bit of beating here. He won fresh last year and ended up winning 4 times through the season. He wasn’t at his best on final outing at Ascot but we know he likes this C&D and if back on song in a first-time hood should go close.
Dain Ma Nut In was on a roll when last seen and back in trip could emerge as the danger. Ramazan is another one capable of getting seriously competitive.
